Windows Forms Retrospective

Windows Forms are an important part of the .NET Framework because they enable developers to build applications that present rich graphical interfaces to their users. To the extent that Microsoft succeeds in convincing developers to embrace the .NET initiative and adopt the .NET Framework, Windows Forms will eventually supplant today鈥檚 Windows applications. At a not-too-distant date in the future, it鈥檚 entirely conceivable that the Windows API, MFC, and other tools that have fueled the software industry for years will be historical anachronisms. To programmers who have struggled to overcome the limitations of today鈥檚 platforms, that day won鈥檛 come a moment too soon.
